The Vicarage by The Design Practice
In our firm we are lucky ample to operate with some excellent ‘raw material’: stunning architecture and spaces that we are asked to boost and re-energise.
A single this kind of venture was a beautiful Grade II-listed Georgian vicarage in Cheshire The consumer desired us to extend the residence and give a total turnkey services.
Doing work closely with the client’s architect we contributed to a significant early great results: gaining planning permission, in a conservation spot, to enhance the property’s footprint by a outstanding 150%. The aim then: to evolve this classic Georgian ‘box’ residence, restoring it to its former glory while generating a fresh way of life proposition.
UBER hand-picked contractors whom we know and trust, and can perform to the exacting specifications and degree of detail that we demand. For this was a project where no stone would be left unturned to attain an final result we knew was possible.
A lot more than the following eight pages Simon Evans, Managing Director of The Design Practice by UBER, gives his notes on a tour of the completed outcome.
THE ENTRANCE HALL
“You’re greeted by an instant shock right here, suitable at your feet. We had the notion of inlaying leather components to the central location of an otherwise conventional stone floor. This quirky, playful modern frame of mind continues at ceiling degree and an set up of virtually ‘feathery’ lighting. We also meticulously reinstated some of the unique joinery in the wall panelling”
THE DINING Room
“Now comes a alter of pace: a robust wood herringbone pattern floor, contrasted with the softest of silk rugs. The centrepiece is a breathtaking, very lacquered dining table which is finished with two-tone upholstered chairs in cream with striking blue backs complementing the artwork and embellished with mother-of-pearl handles. This imposing arrangement is set off with a rock crystal chandelier and matching wall lights that reflect beautifully in the silk wallpaper.
We also added what is named a ‘cold applied metal’ which offers a bronzed effect to a wall, delivering a genuine juxtaposition of classical and modern day fashion. This integrated a bespoke stingray-skin sideboard, completed with horse sculpture and flanking table lamps. The centre fireplace was then replaced in a Portland stone with a Christopher Man mirror over to finish the location entirely.”
THE DRAWING Area
“What strikes you proper right here is the tranquillity of the room with its floor-to-ceiling panelling and lovely bay window (which was rebuilt). The fireplace, when again in Portland stone, has a modern twist to the canines and hearth. We weren’t afraid to go daring, using a dark and virtually cobalt blue that sets off the bespoke sofa and sculptural side tables.”
THE Review
“This location is anything of a temple to the art of bespoke joinery. The desk and all cabinetry are designed in a specific ‘fumed oak’, and we extended this finish to the windows, architraves and all the panelling. We’ve also had some fulfilling: the desktop is inlaid with ultra-fine herringbone cross weave suede particulars, in the draw linings and even in the suede chairs that sit in front of the fire. And all with diffused LED strips in the cabinetry.”
THE POWDER Room
“No area is also small for the sense of drama that pervades this residence. This is completed to super yacht widespread with floor-to-ceiling walls in substantial gloss lacquer timber, with inlaid eglomisé antique mirroring all the way by means of and tall wall lights adorning a hammered metal basin.”
THE KITCHEN
“This is where you truly acknowledge the scale of the extension going on right here. We have developed a south facing and supremely classy elevation, like a conservatory in really truly feel. This area properties the dining table, with roof lantern-light flooding into the hand-painted kitchen. This then prospects you off into two a variety of zones. The original is, by day, a living area with a library feel and, by evening, it gets to be a full digital cinema encounter with a drop down display and a Tv ottoman as properly.
The second zone is a tasting area, flanked with wine and champagne conditions at either side. A higher-level, backlit onyx table with bar stools generates the excellent ambiance in which to sip cocktails, flanked with lovely atmospheric pendants.
THE SPA & Fitness center
“The bootroom off the kitchen has a staircase which takes you down to a comprehensive spa experience. As you approach you are greeted by a cascading light perform of hand blown crystals which adorns one particular distinct total wall from floor to ceiling, signalling a change of mood. The spa itself is raised from the deck level of the swimming pool, and the steam area and sauna sit with each other in a totally circular style to complement the circular spa.
The fitness center is raised and completely glazed so that you can overlook the pool, which is enclosed by 3 walls. Water cascades from the rear wall into the pool, with the glow of LEDs dancing on the water. Beyond, glazed doors open out onto a magnificent sunken terrace and complete haven of privacy.”
BEDROOMS
“Up to the very first floor, and appropriate here we introduce a type of ‘boutique hotel’ ethos. We wished to produce an air of sumptuous comfort, punctuated all by way of with design and style surprises. So for instance you are greeted by the remarkable roof lantern more than the hallway mixed with a sculptural pendant light with bronzing and gilding to the inside.
Every single single bathroom is individually designed, and we’ve sourced stone from the biggest quarries on a tone-on-tone colour palette.
We also commissioned handmade bespoke cabinetry for the bedrooms, encompassing the two wardrobe and dressing room. A lot more discretely, the linen rooms and services cupboards have been positioned out of sight, away from the guest rooms.”
