Description by the architect:
The aim was to act respecting the current volumes of this outdated home, situated shut to the river in the village of Noutigos. Preserving the stone facade, replacing the original windows in chestnut wood, we just only propose two new modest and strategic openings in the south wall for their views and the all-natural light required for certain areas. The new openings with iron frame and fixed glass contrast with the current ones and which are handled with a chestnut wood.
Portion of the south facade formed with very modest stones has had to restore due to continuous moisture, so we propose a mortar render. We have maintained the big stones about the windows, and have continued to finish smoothing present lines practically the full preliminary and 2nd floor.
The entrance backyard has been taken care of with a amazing old reclaimed flagstones, wood benches, albizias, ivy and lavender, give us a easy but hearty welcome.
The recovered stone types the interior finished walls. In the ground floor they mixed with ocher mortar, it generates a game as a baseboard with different heights, covering damaged stone areas and adapting to the interior area distribution. The end result is a balanced interior finish specifically in which dominates the mortar ocher and stones colors.
The ground floor is a open space with a continuous pavement, precisely in which we spot the dining location, the kitchen and the living location. On the 1st floor we located 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The slabs are made with clay vault painted with a gray glaze.
The 2nd floor below the cover is a area initially utilised as clothesline, now has flip out to be a completely open space, flooded with normal light by means of skylights and a minimize in the cover that originates a little terrace with beautiful views to Finisterre and the Carnota bay.
Respect the stone, recover the existing components and mix them with an open and new distribution, real lighting and furnishings, generates a new charming spaces.
