Envisioned by interior designer and blogger Athena Calderone of Rawlins Calderone Design for herself and loved ones, the Duplex Penthouse in New York is an eclectic, enticing and very intriguing modern dream home.
Situated in the sought-right after community of DUMBO, Brooklyn, this chic dwelling is a melting pot of edginess, glamour and plain exceptional taste. Interiors function mid-century, modern and contemporary furnishings in metal, wood, glass and wealthy textiles. The double-height windows of the living locations supply floods of natural light paired with magnificent views of the East River. The center hall, replete with a mod glass lighting pendant, provides exposed concrete walls adjacent to a transparent staircase. What a way to perform a narrow room!
A definite stand-out, however, is the synthesis of styles–exotic pieces like the zebra rug and African objets d’art collected from travels are magnificently mixed with a tufted posh velvet sofa and minimalist globe chandeliers. It just functions so deliciously and leaves you wanting far far more.
And let’s talk about the blue. Firstly, a favored shade of mine, this awesome and soothing hue is draped all through this dreamy duplex–on walls, artwork, designer pieces and cozy throws. Paired with the tonal greys and warm organic woods, the setting turns into most inviting and rather magical.
The kitchen is a vision of subdued opulence. The smooth cabinetry is bathed in pale grey, but trimmed in luxe gold. The two oversize pendants presiding over the white marble island also reflect this lovely juxtaposition of colour and materials, while the molded wood counter stools add a dose of earthy appeal to this modern day culinary area.
The couple’s younger son is lucky to have this kind of a spirited, ultra-hip room. With graffiti-esque walls, vertically-stacked skateboards on display and splashes of neon proper here and there, this area is downright wonderful. The reality that his mom permitted him some creative license here is perhaps the extremely greatest element.
The master suite is a dream. White bedding piled with plush pillows is set towards the contemporary white and wood side tables and dresser making a dynamic visual. It is the blue artwork over the bed, even however, that is gorgeous and genuinely mesmerizes with motion the a lot far more you seem at it. The compact but neatly organized walk-in closet is every woman’s dream with constructed-in shoe compartments, jewelry fixtures and double rows of wardrobe area.
The Duplex Penthouse is a present day day urban dream home filled with type, stability and a certain magnetism portraying timeless design and style.
