Wedge House by SOUP Architects:
“We have been approached by customers hunting to unlock the potential of a backland web internet site set in the rear half of an existing suburban garden in Surrey. Their short was to generate a contemporary home for 3 generations of their loved ones members.
The design helps make use of the irregular shape of the current garden to tuck the proposed residence into an unassuming triangular pocket to the side of the backyard that maintains extended views from the major property. The proposed house is orientated to minimise overlooking to/from an apartment improvement to the East and maximizes afternoon and evening sun by acquiring orientated West.
Our client’s ambition to have a relaxed, informal series of residing spaces function effectively with the asymmetric volumes created. The potent physical connection to the backyard aims to extend the calm modernism of the internal spaces out to the garden backdrop.
A extremely insulated constructing material with each other with an integrated Heat Recovery Ventilation Technique ensures the demand for inner space heating is stored to a minimal. Solar water panels provide most of the scorching water demand and a fully integrated rain-water harvester contributes to cold water supply.
The palette of external supplies of vertical batten Western Red Cedar and dark grey smooth render subtly blends the house into its surrounding setting. Internally the use of a dark American Walnut, polished concrete, complimented by an off-white wall finish and deep slate grey finish to bathroom areas offers the undertaking a warm materials richness.”
