Description by the architect:
The aim was to act respecting the existing volumes of this old residence, situated shut to the river in the village of Noutigos. Preserving the stone facade, changing the unique windows in chestnut wood, we just only propose two new modest and strategic openings in the south wall for their views and the all-natural light essential for distinct places. The new openings with iron frame and fixed glass contrast with the existing ones and which are handled with a chestnut wood.
Portion of the south facade formed with very small stones has had to fix due to constant moisture, so we propose a mortar render. We have maintained the massive stones close to the windows, and have continued to finish smoothing present lines virtually the entire 1st and 2nd floor.
The entrance garden has been handled with a excellent outdated reclaimed flagstones, wood benches, albizias, ivy and lavender, give us a straightforward but hearty welcome. The recovered stone types the interior completed walls. In the ground floor they combined with ocher mortar, it generates a game as a baseboard with numerous heights, covering broken stone spots and adapting to the interior space distribution. The final result is a balanced interior finish where dominates the mortar ocher and stones colors. The ground floor is a open room with a constant pavement, specifically in which we spot the dining room, the kitchen and the living place. On the 1st floor we positioned three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The slabs are produced with clay vault painted with a gray glaze.
The 2nd floor beneath the cover is a room initially employed as clothesline, now has develop to be a fully open room, flooded with natural light via skylights and a reduce in the cover that originates a small terrace with lovely views to Finisterre and the Carnota bay. Respect the stone, recover the current elements and combine them with an open and new distribution, actual lighting and furniture, generates a new charming spaces.
